Today we focus on acknowledging ways we have contributed to racism continuing in our country.
Thank you Lord for another morning to step out and do better. God you are good all the time and love each of us like your own flesh and blood. Break our hearts for what breaks yours. Forgive me from idly sitting by watching the news and shaking my head in disappointment, sadness, or anger. The only action I knew to take was to pray for my friends who are minorities. I know my words didn’t fall on deaf ears. I’m asking now, God that you would not only forgive, but that you would set up divine encounters to use me to take action to break down racism. I pray that these meetings that seem like chance would result in lasting change, and that more and more would come to you and learn the language of love and its action.
Lord I also ask that you would touch the hearts of all black Americans who are angry and tired and that they would come to you seeking your will. I pray that those who have harbored bitterness from injustice would be set free from the bondage of those events and feelings–not forgetting, but learning from them. Break off the chains of resentment and regret, too, God. Break our hearts for what break yours. Help us all to move forward in peaceful action and truth. In Jesus’ name, AMEN!
Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.I John 3:18 NIV
